Today I have to get a few more things I need for my trip. A spare inner tube and a few good tyre levers. Those plastic things are bending and for my grove bands not an option. Also, I have a pair of insoles for my race shoes. Despite all protection is the bottom that gets very cold if you are cycling for longer than 1.5 hours in freezing conditions. On the internet there are pads of sheep wool but I would rather go for a piece of advice to my shoe maker.
The owner Iwan searched directly for me a bunch of pads out. In the Netherlands the cold is quite a bit gone now (I think so) and his stock is sufficient but not just in buddy of size 13 to 14!! Fortunately he had another set. Iwan said that there also are pads that come with a low aluminum in between and those are really against the cold. He said if I was leaving that soon he would help me if I get a role of aluminum foil. He would nicely adhesives that for me under these pads. No sooner said than done and ...I have a bunch of fine pads which fit perfectly in my shoes.
I let Iwan know how comfortable my feet the remain in the Canadian cold!
Shoe Care thanks!!!!
